FAQ: LASIK
Am I eligible for LASIK?
As long as your spectacle prescription has been stable for at least 2-3 years for those in their 20's and 1-2 years for those in their 30's and above. LASIK will never get rid of your likelihood to get more nearsighted if it's in your genes to get more nearsighted with time or if you do prolonged close work all day. To have LASIK you also need to have sufficient corneal thickness, a normal sized pupil and a healthy corneal topography. If you do not have enough corneal thickness you can still be a candidate for other laser procedures such as EPI LASEK or PRK. Surgical Intra ocular contact lens insertion can also be done on those who are very nearsighted or who are poor candidates for the laser surgeries.
