FAQ: Eye Exams
What is the earliest you would recommend an eye exam?
We have done exams on infants as young as six months before but if the parent doesn't notice anything unusual with a child's sight that could include an eye turn, heavy squinting or closing of one eye in particular, head turn or unusual posture in pictures, the constant rubbing of an eye or eyes then at the very least before the child enters pre K which is at age 4-5. Exams can always be done earlier especially with whom parents are both nearsighted or if one parent has problem eyes. Note that school, health fair and pediatrician eye screenings are never a substitute for a quality dilated eye examination.
